Universal Announces Mardi Gras 2021: International Flavors of Carnival

UNIVERSAL MARDI GRAS 2021 TAKING PLACE DAILY FROM FEBRUARY 6 THROUGH MARCH 28 AT UNIVERSAL STUDIOS FLORIDA

Universal Orlando Resort announced today that Universal Mardi Gras 2021 will be happening! Celebrate Mardi Gras 2021: International Flavors of Carnaval featuring authentic cuisine inspired by the most iconic Carnaval festivities across the globe. This first-ever, dynamic celebration of flavor and entertainment will take place daily at Universal Studios Florida from Saturday, February 6 and continue through Sunday, March 28.

Guests will enjoy an eclectic global food fest with more than 70 delectable dishes and beverages from 13 locations around the globe.

Plus, Universal Studios Florida will be decked out in vibrant décor and guests will have the first-ever opportunity to get up close with spectacular and intricately-detailed Mardi Gras floats stationed throughout the theme park. They’ll also enjoy a Big Easy bash in the streets with energetic dancers and stilt performers in extraordinary costumes, brass band musicians, countless beads and a newly-themed Mardi Gras Tribute Store stocked with new merchandise that will give guests the perfect look for this epic celebration.

This culinary journey will feature iconic Cajun fare and traditional Carnaval flavors from across the globe, including:

  • Fan-favorite Cajun cuisine from New Orleans, such as a Crawfish Boil, Jambalaya, Beignets and other Big Easy delights
  • Classic Carnaval dishes from the islands, such as Pernil & Mofongo from Puerto Rico, a vegan Pholourie from Trinidad and Tobago and Jerk Chicken from the Bahamas
  • Pork Schnitzel Sliders and Bavarian Pretzels from Germany, iconic Paella Mixta and Leche Frita from Spain and Belgium Liege Waffles from Belgium
  • Other famous flavors from Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Italy, France and more

Spectacular Floats

While there wont be a parade travelling around the park with a chance to catch beads, a fleet of Pirate Treasure themed floats will be on display throughout the park along with a collection of Universal’s classic Mardi Gras floats.

Surprises All Around the Park

With no scheduled acts to perform at the event, there doesn’t mean there wont be a chance for your feet not to fail you now… Enjoy street entertainment, roving musicians, beads and more throughout the theme park.

Explore the Mardi Gras Tribute Store

The brilliant tribute store is back continuing the new tradition of 3 themed stores a year. Let the good times roll with exclusive in-park merch and photo ops in themed rooms:

  • A hopping jazz parlor straight out of the 1920s with dueling pianos and bellowing brass
  • A flower-filled nautical cemetery, where many sea captains were laid to rest
  • A waterfront warehouse, where all manner of smuggled treasures and trinkets are stashed

Join the Excitement at Music Plaza Stage

Head over to this outdoor courtyard environment to snag a selfie with one of the three floats around the stage. Grab a table and relax with some good eats under dazzling lights.

A Mardi Gras scavenger hunt will also be coming to Mardi Gras 2021.

We are glad that the event will be able to return in an altered format for Universal Mardi Gras 2021: International Flavors of Carnaval.

It was during last years Mardi Gras celebration that Universal and other parks around the world closed due to the pandemic. Universal has implemented more safety protocols for this years version:

  • Guests may remove their face covering while actively eating or drinking, but must be stationary and maintain appropriate social distancing.
  • Otherwise, Guests must wear face coverings at all times.
  • Inside restaurants and in outdoor dining areas we have arranged tables and seating so that guests can safely remove their face coverings while enjoying their dining experience.
  • To allow for social distancing, there are no parades or concerts this year.
